Whether Shadowrocket appears in search depends on the store used by your purchasing account, the app's availability in that store, and device restrictions. This guide is for anyone who can't find the app in the App Store, sees a regional availability message on its product page, or isn't sure which store their purchasing account uses. Check Media & Purchases, confirm Country/Region, then note the product page message. This helps distinguish regional availability from search issues and device restrictions—without changing your account or network settings first.
First, distinguish search results from store availability
The App Store has different product catalogs for each country or region. An app's availability in a particular store depends on its distribution and applicable local requirements. Shadowrocket isn't available in every regional store. Not seeing it in search doesn't prove that it has been removed from all stores, nor does it necessarily indicate a device problem.
Apple ID may also appear as Apple Account in current system interfaces. To check the store region, look at the account used for Media & Purchases—not just your device language, location, or system region. The account signed in at the top of your device may differ from the one used for media purchases, so check both separately.
- No search results: Search for the full English name, Shadowrocket. Then open the App Store product page using the access instructions on this site and check the message shown.
- The product page says it's unavailable in your country or region: Check the purchasing account's Country/Region first instead of repeatedly trying different search terms.
- The product page appears, but you can't buy the app: Check compatibility, purchase restrictions, and any payment messages. Don't assume every issue is regional.
- The App Store won't load at all: Troubleshoot the store connection or account verification first. That's separate from whether an individual app is available.
Shadowrocket is available only on Apple platforms, primarily iPhone and iPad. For compatibility with Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision, and for system requirements, refer to the App Store listing. The App Store is the only way to get the app. Start with the official app verification and access guide to confirm the app's identity.
Check the purchasing account's Country/Region in Settings
The steps below use iPhone and iPad as examples, with interface labels kept in English. Wording and layout may vary slightly by system version, but the goal is the same: open the purchasing account details and note the current Country/Region. This check only requires viewing account information; don't submit a region change or sign out.
-
Open the account page
Open Settings and tap the account name at the top. If no account is signed in there, first confirm which account you actually use for App Store purchases, then continue.
-
Check the purchasing account
Open Media & Purchases and check whether the account shown is the one you expect. Don't infer which account is used for purchases just from the account at the top of Settings.
-
Open account details
Tap View Account and complete the verification requested by the system. If verification isn't completed or the details page won't load, resolve that issue first; it doesn't tell you the store region.
-
Check the current region
In the account details, find Country/Region and note the current country or region. If you see Change Country or Region, stop here—don't submit a change as part of this check.
Another easily confused path is Settings → General → Language & Region → Region. This mainly controls device settings such as regional formats; it isn't the store region shown under Media & Purchases. Changing Region here does not change the purchasing account's store region.
Cross-check the account and app in the App Store
Return to the App Store, tap your profile picture at the top, then tap your account name or account entry. Follow any verification prompts and check Country/Region under Account Settings. If the region isn't shown there, use the Settings path above. There's no need to sign out or switch accounts just to find a menu with a matching name.
Next, search for the full app name. On the product page, verify the app name, developer, and app ID rather than relying on its position in search results or a similar name. The app ID identifies the product; it isn't a version number. Review the product page's compatibility and purchase information separately.
The developer should be Shadow Launch Technology Limited. The product link on this site's getting-the-app page contains /us/. That's part of the store URL, not proof that your account's region has changed. When the product page opens, the system may route you according to your current account. The Country/Region linked to the purchasing account and the message shown by the store are what matter.
What to do: note the region and the message
Compare the current Country/Region with the exact message on the product page. If it explicitly says the app isn't available in your region, stop searching and first confirm whether that store offers the app.
Check restrictions and payment issues without changing the region
If you've confirmed the account region and the product page loads, but the purchase button isn't available, follow the message shown on the page. Regional availability, device compatibility, purchase permissions, and payment status are separate checks. Passing one doesn't mean the others are satisfied.
- Purchase permissions: Go to Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions and check restrictions on App Store purchases, app installation, and age ratings. Specific option names vary by system version; confirm that installing the app is allowed.
- Device management: On a school- or work-managed device, management policies may restrict app installation. Ask the device administrator to confirm; changing your personal account isn't a substitute for checking permissions.
- Compatibility: Check Compatibility on the product page. Use the system requirements listed in the App Store; don't assume your device can install the app just because it can be purchased on another device.
- Payment status: If you see a payment method or billing message, review your payment details and any outstanding issues as requested on the account page. A failed payment doesn't mean the app is unavailable in the store.
Consider changing your account region only if you have a genuine long-term need, such as moving to another country. Apple may require you to use your account balance, cancel active subscriptions, complete pending orders, or leave Family Sharing, and to provide payment and billing details accepted in the destination region. Follow the requirements shown during the change process. A region change isn't a harmless way to refresh search results.
Global Routing doesn't determine your App Store region
People who already have Shadowrocket installed sometimes change Global Routing on Home in the hope that search results will change. These are separate mechanisms: Global Routing controls how connection traffic is handled, while Country/Region is part of the purchasing account. Changing the former won't change the latter or guarantee that the app will appear in the store.
Config: Keep a verified configuration
RecommendedWith Config selected, connection traffic is handled according to the rules in the current configuration. If your existing network access works, keep this verified setup while checking the store region to avoid changing several variables at once. The recommendation is to keep troubleshooting conditions stable—not to use Config to switch store regions.
Best for: You already have a working configuration and only need to check the purchasing account and product page message.
Direct: Isolate connection issues
Direct uses a direct connection policy. If your current network can access the App Store, you can use it as a comparison when needed to see whether the store loads. This can help distinguish a connection issue from an app availability message, but it won't change the account's Country/Region.
Best for: You already have the app installed and need to troubleshoot an App Store page that won't load.
If you don't have Shadowrocket yet, you can skip this check. Buying the app and importing connection details are separate steps: a one-time app purchase does not include a service plan. Using the app later assumes you already have your own service provider; checking your account region does not require subscription details.
Common questions about searching for and buying the app
Why can't I find it even though I'm outside my home country?
Check Settings → your name at the top → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region. Your physical location and device language don't determine the purchasing account's store region. If the product page explicitly says the app isn't available in your region, check the store linked to that account.
Why didn't changing the system Region make a difference?
Check whether you changed only General → Language & Region → Region. That setting isn't the same as the store region for your account. Go to Media & Purchases and check Country/Region to confirm which store your purchasing account uses.
Why can I see the product on the web but not buy it?
Being able to view product information on the web doesn't mean your account is eligible to buy the app. Open the product page in the App Store and note whether the message concerns regional availability, compatibility, or payment, then check each issue separately. A web page loading doesn't prove the app is available for purchase in your current store.
I bought it before. What should I check now?
First, confirm that the App Store is using the account you used for the original purchase. Then check the Apps or Purchased section of your account page; the exact label depends on the system interface. A past purchase doesn't guarantee the app can be downloaded again in your current store or on your current device. Check the messages shown and device compatibility.
What information to keep for further troubleshooting
If the checks above don't identify the cause, keep only the necessary non-sensitive details. Describe the step where the issue occurs rather than just saying you can't find the app. This helps distinguish unusual search results, store catalog differences, device restrictions, and transaction issues.
- Your device type and any requirements for that device shown under Compatibility on the product page.
- The Country/Region for Media & Purchases. There's no need to share your full account email address.
- The results when searching for the full app name, and the exact message shown after opening the product page from the getting-the-app page.
- Whether the issue happens during search, when opening the product details, when tapping Buy, or during installation after payment.
- Whether Screen Time or work/school device management restrictions apply. Don't share passwords, verification codes, or payment details.
Check in this order: confirm the purchasing account, verify its store region, check the app's identity and the product page message, then address permissions, compatibility, or payment issues. If the app isn't available in a particular store, follow the message shown in the App Store. Repeatedly refreshing, changing the device language, or adjusting routing rules won't replace these checks.
